The Royal Netherlands Association for Meteorology and Astronomy (KNVWS) is a national umbrella organisation of 50+ amateur organizations and public observatories with a combined membership of 5000+. The vast majority of our member organizations is active in astronomy, while some also focus on meteorology. We organize nationwide events such as the national stargazing days, a ‘star party’ that takes place on tens of locations across the country. Locally, our member organizations organise their own events throughout the year, which includes populair scientific lectures, excursions, stargazing nights and much, much more. Founded in 1901, we are carrying a legacy of more than a century of supporting and promoting amateur astronomy (and meteorology) in The Netherlands.
